Law in the Headlines: Exploring Current Legal Controversies, with Leora Harpaz

Leora will focus on cases where the Supreme Court has made recent decisions ranging from agreeing to add a case to its docket, granting or denying an emergency application, or hearing an oral argument. The cases include an Eighth Amendment Cruel and Unusual Punishment challenge to a city imposing criminal penalties on homeless people for camping on public property; two cases where the issue is whether censorship in the use of a social media account by a government official is state action subject to First Amendment limits; and a case challenging West Point’s use of race in deciding who to admit.
